Data collectionCIABS, in collaboration with HILL'S PET nutrition, invites its own partners to take an active part in a study about malignant histiocytosis of the Bernese Mountain Dog, with the double purpose to give a remarkable number of pretests of Italian subjects to the Department of Genetics and Development of the University of Rennes, and at the same time to monitor the presence of the aforementioned illness in the genes of the Italian canine population. The collection of haematic test specimen to be delivered to Dr. Mario Ferrari, Hill's supervisor of the project, will be carried out in 2 consecutive phases. The priority to the pretest is reserved to the dogs, owned by CIABS members who are up to date with the payment for 2017, whose age goes from a minimum of 7 to a maximum of 10 years and who have conceived at least once. Based on the number of haematic specimen belonging to veteran dogs we will receive within next 18th March (first phase), we will start collecting further haematic specimen that belong to offsprings of the above mentioned veterans and giving priority to the eldest dogs, up to the total number of tests (second phase) to be finished within June 2017. Specimen will be collected next year (in 2018) too, up to a minimum useful number of tests to the geneticists for the execution of their scientific studies. The dogs suitable to this research are also those ones whose a parent has already done the pretest, provided that its results are attached to the sent documentation.
